Job Description / Tasks
- Performs executive level administrative and supervisory work directing the Building Maintenance, Engineering, Fleet Management, Public Works and Public Utilities divisions of the General Services Department
- Prepares and maintains fleet replacement plan in consultation with management and department users; provides information to the County regarding all fleet and equipment purchases as requested
- Manages departmental operations in with established policies and procedures
- Responsible for facility maintenance and management of owned and leased properties
- Assists in disaster management and recovery efforts
- Facilitates the design and construction of new buildings; renovations of existing facilities; inspects materials, workmanship, and architectural, mechanical and electrical installations for conformance to plans and specifications
- Prepares work schedules; expedites work flow; studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness of operations
- Issues written and oral instructions; assigns duties and examines work for exactness and neatness
- Prepares a variety of studies, reports and related information
- Receives and responds to inquiries and complaints
- Provides excellent customer service when working with whole organization
- Negotiates and manages professional service contracts
- Establishes operating policies and procedures for units
- Plan, organize, coordinate, and direct the company’s purchasing function
- Provide supervision, training, and work evaluation for staff
- Prepare and administer the division budget and fiscal controls
- Research, collect, and analyze information related to municipal purchases
